HELLO 2008

You were good to me...or at least during the last part, 2007. Thanks! =]

Hm..so I haven't intentionally gone MIA, but figured 'ahh, why write about this? or THAT?!' I still haven't quite figured it out, but I guess it's not up to me to find out the WHY behind my blogs.

It's up to you guys right? All 3 of you? Hm...4 of you?

Anyway, let's see...

1. So, I've said my last goodbyes to a relationship that became a little trivial to say the least. I don't think I've ever been in a relationship that was so crazy (in the psycho-drama kinda way). OK, so maybe not EVER, but since high school when I was dating this ONE GUY named.......yeaaaa, you know who you are, buddy. Yes, so the decision was definitely for the best. I am so happy, relaxed, and just...I don't know...comfortable? COMFORTABLE now that it's over. A new chapter awaits...

2. I got to spend the holidays connecting & reconnecting with some new faces and my dearest friends. One thing's for sure, I have some really cool and collected characters running around in my life these days. We help each other be our best even when we're at our worst...who could ask for more right?

3. Fall 07' Semester: B, B, B+, A. I tried my best, but hey, can't be perfect all the time JK..

4. I've seen some movies lately, if you'd like a review: I Am Legend, Sweeney Todd, the Bucket List, & P.S. I love you...

5. My wisdoms were ripped out yesterday, so..I'm like half-sexy-half-chipmunkface. It's all good, half is all I need No, but seriously, I'm kinda in pain..

Well, due to No.5 I've been staying at home with my Jello and tiny ass spoon. When I get better though, I'm looking forward to continuing research with my professor and starting work back at the old PT office..and a FAT steak or something..maybe sushi...

Damn..I'm getting drowsy, so will write some more some other time.

.::MY SUMMER::.

August 1st? ALREADY?! Summertime has sure been flying by with lightening speed...

Well, I struck gold (figuratively speaking) with a really cool summer job as a swim teacher. At first, I thought I'd only teach 2 of my coworker's nieces, but yea..my roster is now at a solid 20 students (one grandma, too!). I see each of my students about 2 or 3 times a week, each privately for 30 min. to an hour and a half. It's been such a gratifying experience because I've learned so much through my kids and I love teaching them about positive ways of thinking and reaching their goals. The parents have been really supportive and open which is of course a relief..and despite my tatt, they love me. I give myself permission to gloat just a little because these parents are reeeallly hardcore and kind of scary. One mom actually told me the other day that they like my tatt...crrraaaazzzyy....

I really hope that someday, I'll be able to have children of my own. LOVE to all the mommies and daddies out there!

School's also starting again on Aug. 20th. I'm going to try my best to get straight A's this semester. SERIOUS! I was sooo close last semester. *SIGH* Will try harder. Along with my classes, I've got research with one of my old professors who's into environmental physiology. <- me too. It should be interesting though..the subject "dependent effect of drinking volume on vasopressin but not atrial peptide in humans"...haha...yea..."whatever that means!?" I'll fill you in as I learn exactly what that is or means to the rest of us...non-science people...

KEVIN! We've got to start planning your housewarming thing as soon as you find your place. I hope you can recall WHY housewarming things are so important. HINT: Our convo. was at Minsokchun on the same night as you know what happened because you know who was being you know how ok?

JOHN! I've got to check out the system so please please PLEEEAASE let me know when. All you've got to do is tell me when.

And, one last thing...this one's for the ladies...INTRODUCING......DON!

Hahah...ok. That's all for now. PEACE OUT!

There's a homeless man that lives out of his van at the Starbucks by my school, where he reads, rolls cigarettes...just chills. He talks mostly about life and politics with the workers and other regulars who go there. If you've ever been to that particular Starbucks location, it's likely that you know the man I'm talking about. I don't mean to exploit him or his situation, but I felt a moral dilemma the other day that's been hanging over my head until now.

A Fullerton police officer harassed this man, asking him to leave the property with his van because some patrons allegedly "didn't want him there." After defending his reputation and relationship with the workers, as well as other regular patrons, the man said that he would leave once he was done rolling his cigarettes. The police officer then starts yelling at him, telling him to leave immediately. The officer takes out his batton, and starts hitting the man's belongings off the chair and table where the man was sitting. Then, the man decides to call the police to help him because, at this point, the officer was threatening to arrest him.

While threatening the man verbally, he starts hitting the chair that the man is sitting on with his batton demanding that the man get off the phone..then he calls for "back up," while simultaneously pushing the man (who's still sitting on the chair) down on the floor. The homeless man starts yelling that there's no need for excessive force, that he was unarmed, that he was going to comply...etc. Once the officer's "backup" showed up, the homeless man was arrested and detained in the police car.

So, my dilemma...how should I have handled the situation? I sat there, watching in astonishment..thinking to myself, "That's f-in WRONG!" but then I didn't do anything to help him. I feel really bad for not standing up for him..when he was screaming for someone to help him, I didn't do anything, but sit there, eyes wide shut. I spoke to the Starbucks manager regarding the incident at that moment, asking him to do something, but why didn't I just do something about it. Had he not been homeless, had he been a child, or a woman, or a dog, I think I would have done something...I think anyone would have. But I, as well as about 10 other patrons didn't do anything.

Damn..
